Sleep is arguably the most important pillar of health as it is the foundation for everything else in life. I am a huge proponent of exercise and healthy eating, but if we are not getting sufficient good quality sleep, that will wreak more havoc on our health in the long run.

I listened to Matthew Walker’s MasterClass on Sleep and it changed my entire outlook on sleep!

Since listening to the masterclass, my husband and I made significant investments into our sleep hygiene and it has made a world of difference. Since the brain and the body need to drop core temp in order for us to fall into a deep / REM sleep and stay asleep, we adopted the Eight Sleep system. I was also very hesitant to try The Oura Ring. I had tried other sleep tracking devices before and found them uncomfortable, cumbersome and not very accurate. But I heard good things about this ring and figured it was worth a try.

The first thing I loved about it was the fact that I can’t even tell I’m wearing it to bed (unlike other wearables). The next thing I fell in love with was the data I started to learn about my own sleep patterns. I had no idea how much deep sleep and REM I got before I wore this and now I am in the know daily. Ok, hear me out….this pillow is the bomb! This one I was not hesitant about…as soon as I heard about it, I ordered it! I had a pillow named Polly since I was 10 years old. She was my lovey- and she was basically a case of feathers near the end. She tragically died a couple summers ago when she got thrown in the washing machine with a load of sheets. I discovered this gem when I was shopping for our trip to Europe last summer. I was determined to optimize sleep on the international flight. I was also not sure if the places we would be staying would have black-out shades and I tend to wake with the sun…not good when trying to overcome the time change!
